Creative Technologist is thrown around a lot these days. It's made out to sound like we're the saviors of the advertising business. I'm here to tell you, it's true. We're going to save an entire industry. With QR codes. And augmented reality.

Not really.

Am I a new breed of creative? Sure, but I'm not all that different from a copywriter (I was one) or an art director; my talents lie in a different medium. I'm the guy who stays on top of digital trends, figures out what the possibilities are and brings them to a campaign.

I came to be a CT at the Brandcenter because I was looking for something radically different: a new way of thinking and approaching the way we talk to consumers. After nearly two years, I got my money's worth. Now I need to pay it back.

Buzzwords. I can talk apps and APIs enough to make your eyes roll up in your head, but at the end of the day I want to build something cool that I would want to interact with that's meaningful and relevant.

Interactive is the keyword. I don't care where it is – out of home, on your phone, in front of the TV – just get people to engage with your brand. We're not living in an age of one way communication anymore. Talking at someone isn't good enough. Nor can we expect social media to pick up the slack. We're in an age where communication is multichannel between the brand and everyone else that's paying attention.
